Steady Leadership.

Classroom Experience.

I am not accepting contributions yet. The committee paperwork is still in process, and I am not going to take a dollar before that is done correctly.

Why I’m Running

I am running for the Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees, Area 4, because this district is doing work worth continuing, and because the next several years are going to ask a lot of whoever sits in this seat. Enrollment is shifting. Budgets are tighter than they look. Technology is moving faster than most institutions can absorb.

None of that calls for drama. It calls for someone who can read a budget, ask good questions, and work through hard problems alongside the people already doing the job.

I am a college instructor with fourteen years in the classroom, and I spent most of my career leading technology organizations. Both of my parents taught in public schools. My wife is a career public educator.

Public education is not an abstraction in my family. It is how I was raised and a large part of my life today. I am not arriving with an agenda. The job is to protect what this district has built and strengthen it where I can.

The Board's own vision statement puts it plainly:

The Board’s primary responsibility is the educational welfare of every child. The Board's first goal must be to provide each student with the basic skills necessary to participate and function effectively in society. In addition, the Board is committed to the goal of achieving academic excellence through a program of instruction that offers the students an opportunity to develop to the maximum of their individual capabilities.

I am committed to that, and I know that administrators, teachers, and staff are the ones who make it real.
